Toulouse-Lautrec was an amazing artist, and his life's story is worth knowing. I couldn't put the book down... Lautrec's life was majorly influenced by his circumstances. A person will find that he probably wouldn't have gone into art at all for one reason or another; also, how much his physical health affected his life. His life was extreme, in every sense.
As far as this particular book, it is a much more approachable biography than what Julia Frey's seems to be. Also, it's nice to see the facts, rather than what Hollywood has sensationalized in, for example, the film Moulin Rouge (1952). Here, Toulouse was basically portrayed as a midgety Rex Harrison. Please, see the light and read this book. I loved it... it saciated my curiosity delightfully!
