Diana Ross – DIANA! TV Special – 1971 DVD – Michael Jackson

The year is 1971 – the year that Diana Ross would open her solo shows saying, “Welcome to the can-Diana-make-it-on-her-own show.” She had a very fast-paced life that year which included her first solo TV special, “Diana!” which aired on April 18th, 1971. You are bidding on a dvd of that show which featured Michael Jackson and The Jackson Five, Bill Cosby and Danny Thomas. The solo musical highlight is Diana’s enthusiastic performance of “Remember Me.” She also performs a duet with The Jacksons on “Feelin’ Alright.” The show spotlights her versatility as she is featured in several comedy sketches at various times portraying Charlie Chaplin, W.C. Fields and Harpo Marx as well as a little child struggling with her weight in a cute sketch with Bill Cosby which also features them singing a duet, “Love Story”. This show earned strong TV ratings and Diana’s impressive comedy skills were a surprise that would not go unnoticed. Other songs are her amazing opening, “Don’t Rain On My Parade”, “(They Long To Be) Close To You”, “ Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”, “I Love You (Call Me)”, Jackson Five Medleys featuring “Mama’s Pearl”, “The Love You Save”, “I’ll Be There”, and “Feelin’ Alright”.

This dvd was recorded from an old video tape. The audio quality is good…the video quality is ok – with several glitches – but overall – still VERY enjoyable to watch!
