2014 dallas cowboys

2014 week 1- 49ers at cowboys- Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers can put a tumultuous offseason behind them. They have a rusty Tony Romo to thank for making the opener a little easier. Kaepernick threw two touchdown passes to Vernon Davis, one after the first of three interceptions from Romo, and the 49ers cruised to a 28-17 win over the sloppy Cowboys on Sunday. The 49ers came in with questions about their defense, missing key players because of injuries or suspensions. Defensive tackle Ray McDonald got the start just a week after his arrest in a domestic violence case. The secondary put all those issues to rest, getting Chris Culliver's 35-yard fumble return for a touchdown on the second play of the game and two of the Romo picks on their way to a 28-3 halftime lead. For one game, it didn't matter that linebacker Aldon Smith will miss the first nine games on a suspension over off-the-field issues and fellow linebacker NaVorro Bowman is out until midseason because of a knee injury. After Culliver picked up a loose ball stripped from DeMarco Murray and ran untouched for a score, safety Eric Reid returned Romo's first interception 48 yards to the Dallas 2, setting up Kaepernick's second scoring toss to Davis. Romo looked like a quarterback who was limited in the offseason and training camp, not a good start for a team trying to avoid tying a franchise record with a fifth straight year of missing the playoffs.

2014 week 2- cowboys at tenn.- The Dallas Cowboys avoided an 0-2 start by bouncing back in a big way thanks to a dominating performance from DeMarco Murray and their beleaguered defense. Murray ran for 167 yards and a touchdown, Dan Bailey kicked four field goals, and the Dallas Cowboys beat the Tennessee Titans 26-10 Sunday. The Dallas defense had two sacks and two interceptions that led to 10 points. Romo easily shook off his three interceptions in the season-opening loss to San Francisco. With Murray running so well, Romo was 19 of 29 for 176 yards and a TD. Dez Bryant had a 3-yard TD catch in a game where he went to the locker room after the opening drive to get his shoulder checked out. Murray lost a fumble for a second straight game but he topped 100 yards in the second quarter. He wound up averaging 5.8 yards a carry for the game. Little slowed down the Cowboys. They held the ball for 41 minutes, 11 seconds and finished with a 368-314 edge in total offense, delighting their many fans who at one point chanted ''Let's Go Cowboys'' as Dallas ran out the clock. Even with linebacker Justin Durant out with an injured groin and cornerback Orlando Scandrick suspended, the Cowboys got some big stops in the second half. Rolando McClain, who starred in college at Alabama, ended one Tennessee drive slipping his hand just underneath a Jake Locker pass for an interception early in the fourth. He might have had a touchdown if not for an official whistling the play dead as an incompletion, which was overturned after a review. The Cowboys also forced the Titans to turn it over on downs after facing first-and-goal at the Dallas 6 with 6:22 left.

2014 week 3- cowboys at rams- Dez Bryant had so much distance on the closest defender, it was pitch and catch. Blown coverage made it the easiest play the Dallas Cowboys made in a comeback that matched the biggest in franchise history. "No one ever comes that wide open," quarterback Tony Romo said of the 68-yard touchdown pass that was among the big plays that helped the Cowboys erase a 21-0 deficit and stun the St. Louis Rams 34-31 on Sunday. Romo has 21 comeback victories in the fourth quarter or overtime, a franchise best. Terrance Williams scored the go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter, and Bruce Carter returned an interception 25 yards for a TD on the next snap, capping the rally. DeMarco Murray's 1-yard run late in the first half began the comeback. Dallas also rallied from a 21-point deficit in 1984 against New Orleans and 1999 against Washington, although both of those wins came in overtime. It tied the second-largest lead blown by the Rams, who slowed Murray but got burned everywhere else. Among other breakdowns was a flubbed snap by center Scott Wells, who didn't realize Austin Davis was in the shotgun, resulting in a lost fumble, and a dropped touchdown pass by Jared Cook that could have put the Rams up 28-21. They settled for a field goal.

2014 WEEK 4- SAINTS AT COWBOYS- Dallas head coach Jason Garrett was determined to run the ball more in 2014. That renewed focus on the rushing attack is starting to churn out results. DeMarco Murray ran for 149 yards and two touchdowns and the Cowboys routed the New Orleans Saints 38-17 on Sunday night. Aided by an offensive line that has added three first-round selections -- Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick and Zack Martin -- in the last four years, Murray leads the NFL with 534 yards on the ground. He has gone over 100 yards rushing in each of his first four games. He averaged a healthy 6.2 yards on 24 carries for the Cowboys (3-1), who raced out to a 24-0 halftime lead and never looked back in their third straight win. Dallas moved to 14-1 when Murray runs the ball at least 20 times. Tony Romo was 22-of-29 for 262 yards and three touchdowns, Terrance Williams had six receptions for 77 yards and two scores and Dez Bryant added three catches for 44 yards and a touchdown in the triumph. Drew Brees completed 32-of-44 passes for 340 yards with two touchdowns and an interception and Jimmy Graham hauled in eight throws for 86 yards and a score for New Orleans (1-3), which fell to 0-3 on the road this season.

2014 week 5- TEXANS AT COWBOYS- Dan Bailey kicked a 49-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Dallas Cowboys to a 20-17 victory over the Houston Texans. The Texans scored the last 10 points of regulation, but were forced to punt on the opening possession of the extra session. Dez Bryant made a spectacular 37-yard reception along the left sideline on Dallas' ensuing touch to set up Bailey's boot. NFL rushing leader DeMarco Murray had 136 yards for Dallas, his fifth straight 100-yard game to start the season. Tony Romo completed 28 of 41 passes for 324 yards including touchdown passes of two yards to Bryant and 43 yards to Terrance Williams.

2014 week 6- COWBOYS AT SEAHAWKS --DeMarco Murray made history on Sunday, and the Dallas Cowboys did the impossible by going into CenturyLink Field and handing the Seattle Seahawks a 30-23 defeat for just the second time at home during the Russell Wilson era. Murray joined Jim Brown as the only running backs in NFL history to surpass 100 rushing yards in six straight games to start the season. His go-ahead touchdown run with 3:16 to play gave the Cowboys the lead, Seattle turned the ball over on downs and Dan Bailey kicked a 31-yard field goal to make it a seven-point game. The Seahawks got the ball back with just over a minute left, but Wilson was picked off by Rolando McClain to confirm the outcome. Murray carried 29 times for 115 yards, leading Dallas (5-1) to its fifth straight win following a Week 1 setback against San Francisco. The Cowboys last won five in a row in 2007. Tony Romo threw for 250 yards and found each of his tight ends, Jason Witten and Gavin Escobar, for a touchdown apiece.

2014- week 7- giants at dallas- DeMarco Murray went over the century mark for the seventh straight week and Tony Romo threw three touchdown passes as the Dallas Cowboys took care of the New York Giants, 31-21, in an NFC East clash between two teams trending in opposite directions. Murray gained 128 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries, becoming the first running back in NFL history to open the season with seven straight weeks of 100-plus yards in the process. Last week, Murray matched Jim Brown's NFL record of six straight weeks with a 115-yard performance in Dallas' win in Seattle. The surging Cowboys (6-1) have won six in a row following a Week 1 loss to the 49ers in which Romo threw three interceptions. Since then, he has tossed 13 touchdown passes and just three picks. Romo went 17-for-23 for 279 yards in his fifth straight multi-touchdown game. Two of his three touchdowns went to tight end Gavin Escobar, who made three catches for 65 yards in the first multi-score game of his career. Dez Bryant led all receivers with nine catches and 151 yards. Eli Manning completed 21-of-33 for 248 yards, with rookie Odell Beckham Jr. hauling in two of his three touchdown passes. Beckham started for the injured Victor Cruz, who tore his right patellar tendon in a loss to Philadelphia last week. New York (3-4) will head into its bye week having lost two straight following a three-game win streak.

2014- week 8- redskins at dallas- boys get beat in Ot 20-17

2014- week 9- cardinals at dallas- with no romo, there is no offense boys lose 28-17

2014- week 10- dallas at jags- Boosted by Tony Romo's return, America's Team became an international success. Sidelined for one week because of a back injury, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback starred in the team's first regular-season game outside the United States, throwing three touchdown passes Sunday in a 31-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Romo originally was hurt two weeks ago, fracturing two small bones in his back. He started in London to help the Cowboys (7-3) snap a two-game losing streak. Romo completed 20 of 27 passes for 246 yards against the Jaguars (1-9) and finished with a season-high passer rating of 138.8. The game was played at Wembley Stadium, the home of England's national soccer team. It was the last of three regular-season NFL games this year in the British capital. Romo threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Jason Witten in the first quarter and then hit Dez Bryant for a pair of TDs in the second, the first from 35 yards and the second from 68. DeMarco Murray ran for 100 yards on 19 carries and also had 31 yards receiving for Dallas. He had his record streak of eight straight 100-yard games to start a season snapped by the Arizona Cardinals last week. Bryant gained all of his 158 yards in the second quarter, and did it by breaking several tackles on each touchdown catch. Joseph Randle scored on a 40-yard run for Dallas in the second half on his first touch of the game. Denard Robinson scored two touchdowns for the Jaguars, running in from the 32 to give Jacksonville a 7-3 lead in the first quarter and then from the 1 late in the fourth. Blake Bortles, playing with a sore left wrist, was 22 of 37 for 290 yards with one interception.

2014- week 11- bye

2014- week 12- cowboys at giants- For awesomeness, Odell Beckham Jr.'s catch couldn't be topped. For timely rallies, Tony Romo and Dez Bryant trumped it. The Cowboys momentarily might have been in awe of Beckham's one-handed stab as he fell backward into the end zone while he was interfered with by cornerback Brandon Carr. When it came to making the critical plays to beat the New York Giants on Sunday night, though, Dallas had all it needed in Romo and Bryant. Romo threw two touchdown passes to Bryant, the winner from 13 yards with 1:01 remaining, lifting the Cowboys to a comeback 31-28 victory. Romo threw for two TDs in the third quarter and Barry Church's interception helped turn things in the Cowboys' favor. But the Giants (3-8), trailing 24-21, staged a 93-yard drive capped by Adrien Robinson's first career TD catch. That 1-yard score with 3 minutes remaining could have snapped New York's slide that now is at six losses. Back came Dallas (8-3). Romo found Bryant in the back of the end zone to win it, setting up an NFC East showdown with Philadelphia on Thanksgiving Day for first place. Thanks to Beckham's incredible one-handed catch, one of the rookie's two first-half touchdowns, New York built a 21-10 halftime lead. But Romo hit Cole Beasley with a short pass that he turned into a 45-yard score, and the quarterback's 31-yarder to an uncovered Bryant put Dallas on top for the first time. League rushing leader DeMarco Murray managed his 10th 100-yard game this season with 121 on 24 carries for Dallas.

2014- week 16- colts at cowboys- Tony Romo threw for 218 yards with four touchdowns on 18-of-20 efficiency to lead the Dallas Cowboys to a 42-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts, and help clinch the franchise's 19th NFC East title in the process. Dallas (11-4), which just needed a win in one of its final two games after Philadelphia's loss to Washington on Saturday, captured the division crown for the first time since 2009. The Eagles, meanwhile, have been eliminated from playoff contention. DeMarco Murray was active even though he underwent surgery Monday on his fractured left hand sustained in last Sunday's win over the Eagles. Murray rushed for 58 yards on 22 carries with a touchdown. Terrance Williams hauled in two touchdown passes, while Jason Witten, Dez Bryant and Cole Beasley each had a touchdown grab in the Cowboys' third straight win. The Colts (10-5), who clinched the AFC South last week, had their four-game winning streak snapped. Andrew Luck threw for a career-low 109 yards on 15-of-22 passing with two interceptions before getting substituted for Matt Hasselbeck late in the third. Luck's 41.7 passer rating was the lowest of his career.
