[Marker, 1994-1995, UPN] Richard Grieco stars as New Jersey carpenter Richard DeMorra who comes to Hawaii to attend his estranged father's funeral and almost immediately finds trouble in paradise when he discovers that he has inherited a mysterious legacy. His father, one of Hawaii's wealthiest industrialists, had dispensed hundreds of poker-chip shaped markers to people, listed in a leather binder, who committed worthy acts, with the promise that they could be redeemed for help and protection in the future. Now, with his father dead, Richard is asked to redeem the markers. At first he resists, but realizing he has a second chance to know his father though the people holding the markers, Richard acquiesces and soon finds himself in the midst of island intrigue. His background hardly molds him into an instant detective, but Richard's grit, charm and self-deprecating demeanor allow him to make good on his father's promises. Gates McFadden stars as Kimba, Richard's young, radiant stepmother whose antagonistic relationship with Richard is tempered with a grudging respect. Now owner of her husband's sprawling estate and vast business holdings, Kimba lends her considerable assets to Richard's cause whenever he can talk her into it.
