Newt's Playing Cards

Newt's Playing Cards is a Division of the E-Quiver, Inc. family of companies and is located in Canal Winchester, Oh which is a suburb of Columbus, Oh.

Bringing gift ideas, accessories, playing cards, card games, decks of cards and more to the Card Collector, Card Player and Card Enthusiast, the Playing Card Superstore is unlike any other store on the web. With an average of over 1,700 different decks of playing cards, gifts and accessories in stock so far, our selection continues to grow as we offer unique items that are difficult to find. Please check back often as we add items to our website on a continual basis!

Newt's started out as Newton's Novelties.com back in the spring of 2000. We started out as a game site with over 400 online games for folks to play. We had a lot of traffic but didn't make any money to pay the bills. We then started selling sports collectables. From NASCAR to NFL we sold anything from leather jackets to novelty sports fun. It was during this time in fall of 2001 that we introduced playing cards in our store. As a collector, Jim knew that he liked playing cards and card games, but he didn't realize how many other folks loved cards. From card players to card collectors. In spring 2002 we decided to streamline into just games which included a selection of playing cards and monopoly games. After an extremely successful holiday season we decided to convert to the Playing Card Superstore and sell nothing but items of interest to card players and collectors. Now playing cards have become our business as we sell hundreds of different card games and decks of cards from around the world.

The exciting part is now we have started to produce our own decks of playing cards! In the spring of 2002 we rolled out our first ever deck of cards called WILD! With some awesome artwork from playing card artist Peter Wood, this deck has become the definition of Newt's. With "Transforming the Playing Card Industry" becoming our tag line, we now look to not only make normal decks of cards, but decks featuring art from days gone by. My personal favorite is what is called "semi-transformational" art (we like to call it seek-n-find). Basically it is where you take the pips (hearts, diamonds, clubs & spades) and hide them in the artwork of the defined card. Other seek-n-find decks in the making are Busy Bears and Newtropolis.

In 2003 we published one of our biggest selling decks ever! Newt's Iraqi Most Wanted which has sold over 25,000 decks and still remains one of the collectibles of the whole "Most Wanted" craze. Since our deck was one of the 4 American printed decks, it has become an important part of history.

Following the craze of Newt's Iraqi Most Wanted, in 2004 we decided to publish a controversial deck of cards called "52 Reasons to Re-Elect George W. Bush." It was truly amazing the amount of "heat" we took from producing this deck of cards. We produced the deck of cards because we didn't see anything positive about President Bush. At the time of this posting we have nearly sold out of our initial run and have considered doing an updated deck for his second term. Who knows?

Another hot item rolled out in 2004 was Newt's Design-A-Card. This item allows users to order sheets that can be printed on at home and then torn apart on the perforation for a custom made deck of cards. In 2005 you will soon be able to design special images online that can be used with Newt's Design-A-Card. This system is called Newt's Image Jester.

Other items which are being rolled out or have been rolled out this year:

- The Playing Card Builder - with this online tool you can build your photo cards the way you want, put the border you want, choose the front you want (like canasta, pinochle, poker, etc.) and be able to see everything LIVE.

- Newt's Image Jester - with this online tool you will be able to design the face of cards by cutting and pasting your images into the background of different decks.

- The Playing Card Auction - although we still list our cards on many different auctions sites, we have become tired of the HIGH PRICES some of the major auction sites want to charge. It is because of this, and the fact that we wanted a better place to search for used cards, we decided to launch our own auction site. We encourage you to list your cards...it cost NOTHING to list them.

- Playing Card Blog - In an attempt to allow various authors, artist, critics and others to voice their opinion we have created a blog area for folks who play cards or collect cards.

- Online Card Games - These games (plus a few new ones) come from our original site at Newton's Novelties. As stated before we had the games, but no way to pay for the server space. We figured since now we are paying for the server space we should offer the games to our customers.

- Card Playing World - This is our attempt to build a search engine with nothing but results that have to do with playing cards. We know this is not useful to everyone, but sometimes we get tired of looking through the results which have no relevance.

- Pips Post Cards (or Greeting Cards) - This is a HUGE upgrade from our posty card on the site last year. Now we control everything and everything is completely housed and controlled by us. Either way, check it out, send us your ideas for a chance to get your card included in our list.

- Card Talk (Forum) - Rolled out afresh in 2005 we need you help to build the largest online discussion board of nothing but playing cards!
