This is museum quality reproduction in sterling silver of
very rare WWII Colonel Insignia made by Luxenberg. One of the most
desirable insignia makers. These are called War Eagles because the
head of the eagle is facing the arrows. In official Colonel
insignia the head of the eagle faces the olive branch. You are
bidding on a set of two in this size. These are 1 1/2 inch
wingspan. Luxenberg Class A uniform insignia, Colonel rank. Here is
a chance to own a set of these until you find some originals ones
or if you are a re-enactor here is a chance to have the best. Yet
in many cases these were sold as over sized collar insignia.
Luxenberg sold a 2 inch eagle for the class A uniform. .It should
be noted that War Eagles were no longer authorized after 1926, yet
many Colonels continued to wear them. Luxenberg - Reg U.S.

"Wonderful Item that is better in person than viewed on line, I'd suggest images that can be enlarged to view. My grand father served as a S1C in squadron (Ron5) aboard PT108, one of the few MTB's to go through the entire war intact only to be purposely destroyed by fire with other PT's on 11 Nov 1945."
