Item Description
The Strange Affair of Uncle Harry was previewed for 1945 audiences with five different endings and the existing one (a total departure from the play it's based on) was chosen to avoid controversy, prompting at least one resignation from the production team. George Sanders plays a bachelor living with two sisters in a New England textile town, where he works for the mill. Into his life comes the sophisticated Ella Raines from the big city head office and romance blooms. But sister Geraldine Fitzgerald, with an agenda of her own, manages to pry them apart, turning things nasty. With its hints of an unhealthy relationship between brother and sister, the movie was daring in its day, but opted for the ending suggested by its audience.
