This DVD Contains the Classic Holiday cartoon that first aired on November 23, 1968 on NBC-TV. Created by Rankin/Bass Productions, and sponsored by McDonald's, it became a Thanksgiving veiwing staple for many years. The cast included Eddie Albert and Tennessee Ernie Ford who sings several songs on this show. But "Mouse" hasn't be shown on TV for years....The famous ship called Mayflower is trapped amidst a huge storm. The entire story is narrated by a mouse called William, from his viewpoint. The tale begins with the pilgrims deciding to move to America and getting aboard Mayflower. However, because of the huge storm, the ship becomes on the verge of sinking. Then, William, the pilgrim mouse, comes up with an idea to save the ship. When the pilgrims land safely, they write the Mayflower Compact and start constructing their new colony. However, it is already autumn season and they do not have much food stored for the winters. With help from their new found friends, the Indians, the pilgrims learn to plant crops during the spring season, and celebrate a big feast towards the onset of the autumn season or fall. This is their first Thanksgiving celebration. Great Classic that isn't Aired on TV any more, and Kids Love this version being told by a Cartoon Mouse who Travelled that Famous journey aboard the Mayflower. I have sold several of these to teachers for classroom viewing, so it is obviously a great way for the youngsters to learn while being entertained.
