TRACK ONE ( 1989 - 48 minutes)
IN MY LIFE: George Martin in the studio.
How do you say goodbye to several decades of album production with many of the legends of music
and comedy, particularly when you're best known as the "fifth Beatle"? If you're George Martin, you make
a Beatles tribute album with your friends and heroes. With musical tongue planted firmly in cheek,
"In My Life" offers an astonishing array of takes on classic Beatles tunes.
One has to watch this video to get a true appreciation of what Sir George was trying to accomplish
and the performances that he attempted to elicit from his eclectic band of performers.
He also gives clear cut reasons as to why he chose other people
such as Goldie Hawn, Robin Williams, and Sean Connery, individuals that most people would never think of to
perform some of the greatest songs ever written. Anyway, each and every track is solid. "

Capsule comments from reviewers:
*The amazing Goldie Hawn can make one forget there has ever been another arrangement to A Hard Day's Night.
*There is a wonderful surprise for the listener. Martin chose Jim Carrey to sing "I Am the Walrus" because he was "a guy who seemed to be able to tackle anything."
* "A Hard Day's Night" drags a little, but you will be amazed at how well Goldie Hawn can sing.
* Amazingly, one of the favorite tracks is "Here There and Everywhere" by Celine Dion. Her voice absolutely captivates on this track, and it's truly beautiful. showing her excellent vocal abilities .
* 'Here Comes The Sun' is more beautiful than ever in John Williams's magical guitar rendition.
* Phil Collins is one of those guys that you can't really explain why, but you like his voice. He and Bobby McFerrin are fantastic in a soulful 'Come Together'.
