Item Description
In 1951, Universal Pictures used its own studio lot as a set and filmed a story based on one of Hollywood's nastiest scandals: the 1922 murder of prolific director and ladies' man William Desmond Taylor, a case that produced sensational headlines, destroyed movie careers, and was never solved. Producer Richard Conte is looking for a project and discovers the bungalow where Taylor was killed, deciding to film the story, soon finding himself on the trail of a murderer. Also starring Julie Adams and Richard Egan, Hollywood Story is lent an air of authenticity by the appearance of twenties stars Betty Blythe and Francis X. Bushman who play themselves.
