This is a reproduction of a Roman dupondius of Antonia., mother of the emperor Claudius. This coin was struck in 42 CE in honor of his deceased mother. Claudius ruled from 41 to 51 CE.. The obverse shows the head of Antonia with the inscription ANTONIA AUGUSTA. The reverse shows Claudius veiled and togate standing left and holding impulum. (Sear 1903).
