This is one of the all-time great horror films, and certainly the best of the Universal stable that included Dracula (1931), Frankenstein (1931), and The Wolf Man (1941). Boris Karloff returns as the monster from the original film, also directed by James Whale, accompanied by Colin Clive as the ever-so-twitchy Dr. Frankenstein. The film is a perfect mix of comedy and tragedy. It picks up where the original film left off, at the burning mill. Dr. Frankenstein has been apparently killed by his creation, and the monster has apparently died in the collapse of the mill. The two consistently comedic characters in the film, the Burgomeister (E.E. Clive) and Minnie (Una O'Connor), Frankenstein's maid, are present here: Minnie gloats about the monster dying in the fire, while the Burgomeister makes some attempts at crowd control ("No rioting. No riots," he says to Minnie, who is one of the few people left on the scene). The father of the little girl killed by the monster in the first film is there, wanting proof that the creature is dead. He discovers that popular wisdom is wrong when he falls through the wreckage into the water below, where the still-living monster drowns him. The monster lurches off after startling Minnie.
Back at Frankenstein's estate, it turns out that the doctor has survived the fall after all. In a nice touch that reflected the first film, Minnie, who is the first to notice that her master is not dead, shouts "He's alive! Alive!!!" The doctor and his bride-to-be, now played by Valerie Hobson (Mae Clarke apparently suffered a career setback in the years between the two films and was considered box office poison), are happily reunited, but Dr. Frankenstein is still obsessed with his creation and the secrets of life and death. The situation is exacerbated by the arrival of Dr. Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger), his former teacher, who wants Frankenstein to help him in his godless attempts to create life from death. Pretorius is a great character, and he's played by Thesiger, with his gaunt face, wild eyebrows, mincing manner, and ominous voice, as the perfect example of European decadence; there is a wonderful scene where Pretorius sits in a crypt surrounded by bones and skulls, sipping wine, smoking a cigar, and laughing diabolically. Pretorius gets all the best lines, too, including his toast—"To a new world of gods and monsters"—that provided the title to the 1998 James Whale biopic Gods and Monsters. (Interestingly, Ian McKellan, who played James Whale in that film, looks very much like Thesiger.) Pretorius convinces Frankenstein to help him after showing the younger man his experiments in creating life.

We cannot guarantee the shipping speed, since all our items are mailed with Canada Post. As seller we cannot influence the speed of the mail. Customer service (also known as Client Service) is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. Its importance varies by product, industry and customer. As an example, an expert customer might require less pre-purchase service (i.e., advice) than a novice. In many cases, customer service is important if the purchase relates to a “service” as opposed to a “product". Customer service may be provided by a person (e.g., sales and service representative), or by automated means called self-service. Examples of self service are Internet sites. Customer service is normally an integral part of a company’s customer value proposition. We do not offer CS in the traditional sense, nor as outlined here. Thus you must read and agree to all provisions set forth in this auction. Shipping costs are always included in the final sales price.
We usually use drop ship services. Some drop shipping retailers may keep "show" items on display in stores, so that customers can inspect an item similar to those that they can purchase. Other retailers may provide only a catalogue or website. A customized packing slip may also be included by the wholesaler, indicating the retailer's company name, logo, and/or contact information. Drop shipping can occur when a small retailer who typically sells in small quantities to the general public receives a single large order for a product. Rather than route the shipment through the retail store, the retailer may arrange for the goods to be shipped directly to the customer. Many sellers on online auction sites, such as eBay, also drop ship. Often, a seller will list an item as new and ship the item directly from the wholesaler to the highest bidder. The seller profits from the difference between the winning bid and the wholesale price, minus any selling and merchant fees from the auction site. We may sell an item that even though it has been tested, may not work. Thus, all items are sold as is, no warranties.
