A TOWN WITHOUT CHRISTMAS (2001)

A Town Without christmas is a 2001 television movie that first aired on CBS, as well as the 2003 sequel to this movie, Finding John Christmas and the third 2004 movie installment of When Angels Come To Town.

In the small town of Seacliff, Washington, a child's letter to Santa Claus captures the nation's attention. When the little boy, Chris, writes that he wishes to leave this world so he will no longer be a burden to his divorcing parents, a race begins to find him before he harms himself.

STORYLINE:

M.J. Jensen (Patricia Heaton), a smart and serious TV reporter, is assigned to the story by her competitive boss (Ernie Hudson). On her way to Seacliff, she meets struggling writer David Reynolds (Rick Roberts), who is returning to his hometown for his own reasons. There is an immediate spark between them. Once in Seacliff, M.J. and David join together to try and locate the kid who wrote to Santa. With the help of an unlikely angel named Max (Peter Falk), who appears as different characters in the town, M.J. and David find "Chris", who turns out to be the mayor's daughter, Megan.

Not only are the mayor and his wife divorcing, they're also fighting about the annual Christmas pageant. Since the town has fallen on hard times, the mayor has cancelled the event, saying that he doesn't have the funds to support it. His wife believes it's imperative to have the pageant, because you can't have "a town without Christmas." Thanks to Max, David finds a way to rescue the event, and everyone has new hope in the magic of the holiday season.

FINDING JOHN CHRISTMAS (2003)

Finding John Christmas is a 2003 television movie that first aired on CBS. The film is a sequel to the 2001 television movie A Town Without Christmas.

Max, the Christmas angel, returns in a new story as he attempts to reunite a fallen hero with his family and bring dreams back into the life of a nurse struggling to save her E.R. from being closed.

STORYLINE:

With the town's help, Kathleen and Noah set about to find the stranger's true identity with the help Max (Peter Falk), a Christmas angel.

STORYLINE:

Sent to a small town in Maine just before the Christmas holidays, Max immediately gets to work on what he thinks is his current assignment: To help Sally Reid (Tammy Blanchard) earn enough money so that she can adopt her orphaned brother Jimmy (Alexander Conti). Unfortunately, it turns out that Max has goofed: Instead of Sally, he was supposed to come to the aid of Karl Hoffman (Seann Gallagher), a misguided young man who is poised to lay off the artisans working at the glass factory run by his Uncle Gregory (Mark Anthony Krupa), an East German refugee. Thus it is that Max's heavenly superior, an attractive angel named Jo (Katey Sagal), descends to earth to untangle the mess. Subsequently, however, both Max and Jo come to realize that the ultimates fates of Sally and Karl are inextricably intertwined. As was the case in the earlier A Town Without Christmas and Finding John Christmas, the cagey Max adopts several disguises in the course of his assignment, at one point showing up in drag!
