"Watchable, but it looks as if it was taken off an analogue television broadcast that was transmitted using NTSC then burnt on to a DVD disc by the seller. The picture-quality is lower than VHS, there is a constant hum behind the audio, there is a black, blank stretch where the movie vanishes for a time, at the dramatic shot that is the high point of the movie is not there. But it is better than nothing, which was all I could find previously, and I had long wanted to see this film again, which is faithfully based on Alfred Noyes' famous poem, The Highwayman. So, overall, I am glad to have it, such as it it, but wish the quality matched the movie. One day, perhaps, I shall find a DVD of it, expertly remastered, and using PAL quality not third-rate VHS/NTSC.
But the seller, in response, explained that there was nothing better, and offered to supply, free of charge, any other title I cared to name, and guarantee that it would be of the highest quality. So although my experience of this title was not the best, due to circumstances beyond the seller's control as it turned out, the overall experience turned out to be very good.
It have been best for the seller to have explained the quality issue at sale-time, then it would not have been a shock and I'd have had the opportunity to decide on the facts beforehand."
