Absolutely fabulous remote-controlled, battery-powered, all original Santa Claus in original box with celluloid face which has fabulous Old-World character. Looks very much like the original Miracle on 34th Street Santa played by Edmund Gwynn. Has very realistic fur-like beard and hair. Beautiful conditioned, high-quality suit with white fur trim. The suit appears to be flannel or a very high grade of felt. He wears a black patent belt. Tin torso, wire arms, beautiful tin black boots with recessed wheels that facilitate his walking. Santa has a wonderful silver metal bell which he rings when in operation and a spring-loaded drumstick with which he beats his tin drum. The green tin drum is on a hinge attached to his stomach and it folds down for easy storage in the box. The tin drum has beautiful Christmas graphics including angels, lighted candles, bells, snowflakes, ornaments, stars, a red brick house, ribbons, lantern, a cross, candlestick holder and holly. The drum still has its original head made of a waxy type of paper. The bottom of the drum has a tear which does not affect the visual appeal or the sound of the mechanism. Santa takes two "D" batteries (not included -- why pay to ship the extra weight). The remote-control battery case is in mint condition, inside and out. His yellow and red twisted remote wire is in mint condition as is all of the Santa himself other than the tear on the bottom of the drum. Even the bottoms of his feet are in excellent condition. Now for the fun part! When you press the red button on the remote control, Santa goes into all of his antics. A red bulb in the front of his hat lights up. His head moves from side to side. Both arms go up and down with one banging the drum and one ringing the bell. Last but not least, he gracefully glides forward in a smooth skating motion on the wheels recessed in his boots. All movements are simultaneous (as is the light) when the remote is activated. With the hat, he stands nearly 12 inches tall. As stated he comes with his original box; it has splitting on one corner and top side which could be repaired if you choose. There is some cellophane tape on the inside lid at one end which does not affect the box visually. The bottom of the box is in mint condition. The graphics on the box are fabulous with holly, snowflakes, reindeer, a darling blond smiling child sleeping in bed with stocking hung from bedpost; he is dreaming of our aforementioned action Santa who is looming over the child. There is a banner on the box which states "Cragstan for Toys" and the words Trademark Alps (with the mountain graphic behind it) and Made in Japan. The side of the box has a banner which reads "Cragstan Corporation, 136 Fifth Avenue, New York 11, N.Y. (Made in Japan). There is a circle on the end panel of the box for the original price which is still there. The box is not dated but because of the fine quality and the fact that Santa has a celluloid face, it appears to be no later than early 50's. If you are a Christmas aficionado, a collector of Santas, battery-operated toys, tin toys, or celluloid, this is a fabulous find!
