NEIL CONNERY
OPERATION
KID BROTHER
DANIELLA BIANCI
ADOLFO CELI
ANTHONY DAWSON
with
BERNARD LEE
&
LOIS MAXWELL
This spoof secret agent film stars
Sean Connery's
brother Neil Connery as well as a host of familiar faces from
the Eon Bond films:
Adolfo Celi
(Emilio Largo in
Thunderball); Anthony Dawson
(Professor Dent in
Dr.No
/
Blofeld in From Russia With Love
&
Thunderball); Daniella Bianci
(Tatiana Romanova in
From Russia With Love)
; and amazingly Eon Bond film regulars
Bernard Lee (
M) & Lois Maxwell (
Miss Moneypenny).
The producers have really tried to capitalise on the
whole secret agent franchise of the time with a tongue-in-cheek
story to rival any Bond film and a Music Score (by
Ennio Morricone
) and title song ("Man For Me" by Christy) to rival those of
the 60's. This is a far better Bond Spoof than
Casino Royale (1967) and is infinitely more watchable. This
film is mentioned on the commentaries of one of the early Eon
Bond films, and it is certainly worth a mention. Both Bernard Lee
and Lois Maxwell reprise their roles (under different names, of
course) and have far more to do in the picture than they would
normally.
Synopsis
The evil crime syndicate Thanatos is bent on taking
over the world, using a magnetic wave generator that will cause all
metal-based machinery to grind to a halt. However, the well-known
British secret agent normally assigned to such tasks isn't
available, so they engage his civilian brother, Neil, to help.
Neil, played by Neil Connery, is a world-class plastic surgeon,
hypnotist, and lip-reader, which turn out to be precisely the
skills required for thwarting Thanatos.
