Brian W(ilson) Aldiss (born August 18, 1925) is an English
author, reviewer, and anthologist. He saw action in Burma and
Sumatra in World War II, was a bookseller for eight years after the
war, and has been a literary editor. He made his writing
debut in the Science Fiction field in 1954. He has become one
of the foremost contemporary writers in the science fiction field,
following continued success in both the British and American
magazines.
His work is inclined to off-trail approaches to the various
science fiction themes and he is at times controversial.
