This great "Old Standby" harmonica was made in Germany [but imported & distributed via M. Hohner Inc. N.Y.] and still has the box, that is in rough shape, but intact. The box has a picture of M. Hohner & a "learn to play the harmonica paper in the bottom". Nice embossed front and back plates with the M Hohner trademarks 1871-1881 -with a 1876 also on it - so we are thinking that is the age of this particular 3 7/8" harp. It has great resonating sound from it to this day! The back has some wear on the metal and it has some expected tarnish [that I was afraid to clean up- especially after I saw what some list for!]. A friend of mine found this in an ancient rusted metal box in his basement with a Swiss army watch- while digging out a portion of the over 150 year old house foundation...sometime over the years, it was stashed along the crawl space until recently.
