U We go green Do you
This round platter is so pretty that you may
want to display when you are not using it. PLEASE note:
The color is more muted than what is showing in the picture.
Several cheeses in cheesy colors ornate the center. The
center motif is raised with various levels. If you love
cheese then this is your dream platter. A wheel of Camembert
with product of France, a wedge of cheese with port des the cheese
of,Cheddar, Swiss cheese wedge and what looks like it could be
Roquefort of Blue cheese. Plus breadsticks of course in the
background.
This could be called a chop platter, I would
use it for appetizers. This perfect platter is heavily glazed
and has a very fine light splatter over the entire platter. Raised
banded rim is trimmed in a muted orange.
Condition is excellent. NO chips,
cracks or any sign of wear.Back reads Los Angles Potteries, USA
505. This could have been a factory error. Because the
spelling of Angeles isn't correct. Platter measures approx 14
1/2 inch across and 1 1/2 inch high. With this coloring
should date from the late 1950's to the 1960's. Since this
was an estate sale find, I do not know the true date.
About: Los Angeles Potteries was
located in Lynwood, California. Before 1941 until after
1967. This pottery was listed in various directories as
makers of artware and dinnerware at 11700 Alameda in Lynwood,
California. They were not listed in 1971, in 1941, a bowl
marked "Los Angeles Potteries" was patented and assigned. The
pieces and marks were drawn from very nicely vitrified hand molded,
high gloss glaze shaped pieces. This could explain how the
artist made a mistake in the spelling. From Lehner's
Encyclopedia of U.S. Marks on Pottery, Porcelain, and Clay by Lois
Lehner page 269.
