VHS tape containing the original broadcast of the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Houston Rockets game played March 13, 1989 at the Great Western Forum in Inglewood, Calif. From the Prime Ticket cable network, with legendary Hall-of-Fame Laker announcer Chick Hearn calling the action. Game is complete and the video is quite sharp. The Rockets are led by hakeem olajuwon, Eric "Sleepy" Floyd, Otis Thorpe, Allen Leavell, Purvis Short and Walter Berry. The Lakers starting lineup features Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, A.C. Green, James Worthy and Byron Scott, along with Mychal Thompson, Orlando Woolridge and Michael Cooper. Great to hear Chick Hearn again. As a bonus, while recording this game, during many of the commercial breaks, I switched over to KTLA Channel 5 to catch parts of that evening's game between the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers. So you'll also get to see a bit of that one, too. The Spurs are led by Alvin Robertson, Johnny Dawkins, Willie Anderson, Frank Brikowski and rookie Vernon Maxwell. The Clippers feature Ken Norman, Charles Smith, Benoit Benjamin, Quintin Dailey, Norm Nixon, rookie Gary Grant, and the oft-injured Danny Manning. Total 2 1/2 hours, on VHS tape sent via U.S. Priority Mail (sorry, rates have just increased Jan. 15). Or you may opt for media mail shipping/handling only $2.99.
I have quite a few games from 1987-1991 with Chick Hearn calling the action, (with Keith Erickson pre-1989, Stu Lantz thereafter). Many are regular-season games, some from KHJ/KCAL and others from prime Ticket. All are on VHS (haven't been able to transfer to DVD yet). Three are listed on this website: This March 1989 game against the Rockets, Game 2 of the 1986-87 WCF against the Sonics, and game 3 of the 1991 Western Conference Semis against Golden State. I also have a 1987 game against the Hawks, the April 1987 game against the Jazz in Utah where Kareem's 40th birthday is celebrated, as well as other playoff games including the one where Sleepy Floyd goes off in the '87 playoffs -- the cable version exists but I have Chick. Some have commercials, some don't (to accommodate more games; tapes weren't cheap in those days).
I also have some games on audio cassette -- the original broadcast on KABC radio, of the 1972 championship game 5, with Chick and Lynn Shackleford, as well as the '73 final where they lost to the Knicks (Chick "around the world through Armed Forces Radio"), a 1977 playoff game against Rick Barry and the Warriors, and a 1983 playoff game against Portland, both on KLAC 570... all Chick, all the time.
Also have a couple of L.A. Kings games as well, including the 1993 clincher against Toronto that sent them to their only finals - and a 1989 playoff game against Edmonton, both with Bob Miller on Prime Ticket.
Priority mail shipping/handling is $5.99. Also can do several games in one flat-rate priority mail box for about $8.99.
Thanks for checking in.
