This wonderful miniseries tells the story of two families, the Hazards and the Mains, who are geographically and ideologically separated by war. The hatred, prejudice and greed that tear at the fabric of a nation also threatens to destroy the threads that have woven the lives of these two families together.
Book One: "North and South" - begins in the early 1840's when the two sons from each family first meet at West Point. Upon their graduation, they are first see combat in the U.S. Mexican War.
Book Two: "Love and War" - carries both families through the Civil War, and one of the sons becomes a prisoner of war. War profiteers, slaves, traitors, and heroes dominated this book.
Book Three: "Heaven and Hell" - love and loss, reunion, and the rebuilding of the South through Reconstruction end this amazing story.
The cast is incredible: Patrick Swayze, Lesly Ann Down, Elizabeth Taylor, Gene Kelly, Kirstie Alley, and more!
