The removable outside covering is machine washable.  The inside pillow is filled with plain rice or rice mixed with lavender flowers (you choose).  The rice provides a soothing moist heat for sore muscles for approximately 30 minutes when warmed in the microwave for approximately 2-3 minutes.  (Please be careful to not cause skin burns by overheating the pillow.)  The rice pillow can also be used as a pain relieving cool pack when placed in the freezer for approximately 60 minutes.  (Please place bag inside a plastic bag when in the freezer to avoid rice absorbing moisture inside the freezer.)  The weight of the pillow provides a gentle pressure to help relieve tension headaches when placed over the forehead & eyes.
