This is a book from 1979 Nelson Doubleday, and the title is The Complete Encyclopedia of Stitchery by Mildred Graves Ryan. It is about 6" x 9" and hardbound with a worn dust jacket. This book is a Book Club Edition. It is about 680 pages of great information about sewing and other crafts. It has about 1400 illustrations in the form of line drawings. It covers crochet, embroidery, knitting, sewing macrame, rugmaking and tatting. Within these categories, it has crochet and knitting stitches, and excellent details for embroidery such as Assisi, Bargello, Beadwork, Berlin, Blackwork, Broderie Anglaise, Candlewicking, Crewel, Cutwork, Drawn-thread work, Florentine work, Gros Point, Huck embroidery, and many others. Rugmaking has braided, crocheted and embroidered rugs as well as hooked, knitted and knotted rugs. There are over 100 pages of knitting stitches and designs.
This is a USED book, and it has some wear to the dustjacket. The pages may have yellowed some over the years, too. There is a break in the glue on the inside at the contents page near the spine. The spine is not loose, and the pages are all intact.
This book comes from a smoke-free, pet-free environment, and does not smell of perfume. You get the actual book in the photo. This book appears to be a first edition in hardcover, and it was issued at $29.95. The ISBN is 0-385-12385-x.
