THIS IS A GORGEOUS AMMONITE FOSSIL PENDANT, FROM PERU.  RARE!  SET IN A FABULOUS STERLING SILVER SETTING!

What is Ammolite?       

Fossil ammonite
Desmoceras latidorsatum
Madagascar , 100 million years old (Late Cretaceous Period)

Ammonites are extinct mollusks related to the modern squid, octopus and Chambered Nautilus. Under certain conditions related to fossilization, the nacreous shell becomes highly iridescent; the resulting gemlike material is called "ammolite."

The total length including the bail measures 44mm x 23mm OR 1 3/4" x 7/8" weight is 12.0 grams.  The opening for the bail is 10mm.  Stamped .925 on the back.
