Bugs and dirt are also easier to remove. Just a little water and they just WIPE off. Aquapel outlasts other rain repellent products SIX to one! It also works to protect against ice and sleet. Unlike other products currently on the market, Aquapel is not a silicone based product like RAIN X.
There are three main differences: 1. Over the counter windshield treatments use a silicone based formula and Aquapel is fluoropolymer-based. 2) Over the counter treatments last for a few hours (or days) before re-treatment is necessary, Aquapel lasts 6 months or more. 3. Aquapel produces a 115 degree contact angle with the glass, while silicone based treatments only produce a 90 degree contact angle. The greater the contact angle, the easier the water will come loose (bead up) from the glass surface. It can be used on sun rooms, shower doors and other glass where a water repellent is desired, though it is used mostly on automotive windshields. Just make sure you're applying Aquapel to real glass and not plastic/plexiglass. Aquapel does not work as well with plexiglas or other forms of clear plastic sheets sometimess used in place of glass. If used indoors make sure there is plenty of ventilation while applying product.
