Paramount Home Video has finally
released The Andy Griffith Show on DVD. Beautiful prints.
Remastered picture and sound. But did you know that some of the
episodes in the series are not complete?!
Apparently, Paramount goofed up a
little and released episodes with the following flaws...
The original Andy Griffith Show pilot
episode featured on the Danny Thomas series, "Make Room For Daddy"
is a syndicated version and has been shortened by approximately 2
and a half minutes.
In Season 3, the epilogue is missing
from "Barney Mends A Broken Heart" and in "The Darlings Are
Coming", almost 3 minutes have been edited out, including
the epilogue and even one of the Darling family's musical
performances (Salty Dog).
Up for sale is a supplemental DVD
that contains these episodes in their complete and unedited form,
PLUS...
- Four sponsor spots not
included on the Paramount discs
- The 2003 CBS reunion
show, "Back To Mayberry"
The DVD also contains a navigational
menu (as shown above) and chapter stops.
This is not an official disc. It was created from
long out-of-print VHS tapes to fill in the discrepancies left
by the officially released DVDs and complete your The Andy
Griffith Show collection.
Please ask any and all questions before you buy so you know
exactly what you're getting.
The disc will be shipped in a clear
slim
double DVD case. You can remove the paper insert from a DVD
case in any season set that only holds one disc and place that
insert and the DVD in the double case with the supplemental DVD and
store it back in the season box.
Price includes First Class Mail shipping within the
USA.
PayPal preferred for fastest delivery. Credit cards
accepted through PayPal only.
**On a side note... In the individually released official
Season 4 DVD set (not the new set released 5/29/07), there are four
episodes on discs 1 and 2 that do not have laugh tracks. This was
also a mistake made by Paramount, but they have opted to replace
these particular discs with corrected ones. Feel free to email me
for info on how to get these discs replaced for free by
Paramount.
