Amityville 3D
(also known as Amityville III: The Demon) is the third film in The Amityville Horror movie saga, released in 3D in 1983. This was the first Amityville film to not be based on or inspired by the so-called "true story" of the original book and movie. This is also the first and only film in the series to receive a PG rating from the MPAA.
MGM's DVD box set of the Amityville films claims that this installment is not a sequel, however there are references to the original story. This means that, while Amityville 3-D is a sequel in name, with a storyline revolving around the supposedly true stories of the DeFeo and Lutz families, this film's story was entirely fictional, like The Amityville Horror and Amityville II: The Possession.
Plot: John Baxter, separated from his wife, moves into the infamous Amityville House with plans to debunk the haunting myth for a newspaper article. The longer he stays in the house, however, the more he comes to believe that tales of the house's possession might be true. When his daughter dies in a boating accident nearby, his wife sees her alive in the house. Baxter calls in a paranormal investigator to help, and together they discover more of the house's terrifying secrets... in 3D!
Movie is public domain due to this 3 D print has never been released by Universal Pictures. Included 2 pair of 3-D glasses, additional glasses may be purchased for $1.50 pair! A 3-D Testing film to adjust your TV to view the film properly. PLEASE READ THIS TO UNDERSTAND HOW THE 3D WORKS BEFORE YOU BUY THIS FILM.......Anaglyph (usually red/green or red/blue, but can be yellow/blue)- Works on TV- Survives encoding.- Relatively cheap to film and show- Cheap glasses- Coloured shadows when viewed without glasses Amityville 3D, JAWS 3D, and Friday the 13th part 3 in 3D were released in 1990 in Japan on their exclusive VHD video disc system (which used a type of LCD-lens glasses plugged into this sysytem). This was the still around the time of 12 inch laser disc, before DVD quality resolution. Laser disc/VHD resolution falls somewhere between VHS tapes and DVD. The movie files of Friday the 13th part 3 in 3D and JAWS 3D are made from this VHD source from discs sold around 15-17 years ago. You must know this in order to understand why they will NOT be in DVD quality. Also, while most feel anaglyph 3D (blue/ red glasses) is inferior to field sequential 3D (electronic LCD-based glasses) at theaters, It's going to assumed MOST people do not own a field sequential 3D video system. Anaglyph is the easiest and cheapest way to experience a 3D movie at home. These movie files were encoded with 2 passes with XviD codec, also utilizing a softening filter. This will not lessen the 3D quality. To experience the best possible 3D quality, be sure to have the correct color settings from your monitor/screen. Red should be red and blue should be blue. If these colors are off, then the red/blue lens filters will not pick up the colors right shown on your screen/monitor and could diminish or inhibit the 3D quality. So be sure to play the SCREEN TEST first and adjust screen/ monitor colors accordingly. Also, it is recommended to watch anaglyph 3D movies in a dark room, preferably at night. The red/blue glasses' lens/filters need to be able to pick up the red/blue from your screen. Any white light or sun light in the room will diminish the 3D effect. These movies were made in the early 1980's and were MEANT to be 'gimmick' movies so don't expect much from an 'intellectual' stand point from them. They are meant to be fun to watch. So, enjoy them as they are!
