Here is the self titled album "LaVern Baker" from 1957 on the Atlantic label #8007. This is her huge album with big hits "Jim Dandy" and "Tweedle Dee". Album cover is excellent, in VG++ condition and vinyl VG, as rated by Goldmine Records system. Album is signed in pen not sharpie.
This album was signed by LaVern for Steve Gibson (of the Redcaps) and subsequently acquired through an estate sale.
Mr. Gibson, who was married to Damita Jo, passed away a number of years ago and therefore, I cannot be specific how he obtained possession of this rare piece. Mr. Gibson (1914-1995) began collecting in 1933 when he obtained the autograph of Cab Calloway. From that point on he built a collection of more than 8,000 autographs.
Album comes complete ready to hang on the wall. It is matted and newly framed in the same acrylic used by the Smithsonion and sold at Graceland and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame gift shops. Affixed to the frame is an engraved plate bearing the name of the artist, the album title, and the year of its release.
