VERY RARE!
In this 1971 film from the Wonderful World of Disney, elderly schoolteacher Henry Meade (Burgess Meredith) is ridiculed when he reports spotting a sea monster, an act that infuriates Mrs. Pringle (Agnes Moorehead), an influental town leader. She demands the school replace him, so three of his students decide to build a fake sea monster to save his job. Tippy, Catfish and Scott pick a deserted spot near Straweberry Cove, where Meade thought he saw the Monster, and begin building their creature. And as they say, "hilarity ensues."
The film is very loosely adapted from the story "The Strange Sea Monster of Strawberry Lake" from the book "The Mad Scientist's Club" by Bertrand R. Brinley.
The film also stars Jimmy Bracken as Scott, Patrick Creamer as Catfish, and Annie McEveety as Tippy. Appearing in two uncredited roles are Kim Richards, who would go on to appear in several Disney TV and movie roles, and Erin Moran, who would later appear in TV's "Happy Days."
This film is incredibly rare, and was only aired twice on the Wonderful World of Disney, in a two part telecast in 1971, and again in 1982. The film is offered here in DVD-R format on a collector-to-collector basis. Quality is amazingly good, considering the recording is now almost 25 years old!
