This cute 12" bisque socket head doll with fully jointed
composition body is wearing her original outfit. It is
an Armand Marseille, A.M. 1894. This mold number has a very
cute face and is not as common as some of the other mold
numbers. She has blue glass eyes, open mouth and a cute
dimple in her chin. Her blond wig is original but
skimpy. Designed this way as she wears a bonnet. She
has her original outfit that is very unusual including
hat, under clothing and stockings. She is only
missing her shoes. The condition is very good with no
hairline cracks or other problems or blemishes. Her
coloring is beautiful.
One of her pictures looks like she has a mark on her
forehead, it is just a piece of hair. Another picture
taken after I pushed it back, shows that there is no
mark.
The outfit is a dress with matching cape and bonnet. It
was an off white or greyish woven fabric. Possibly a "winter"
white The skirt portion has soft pleating or folds
with a robbins egg blue insert and silk covered buttons on either
side of the insert. The matching cape has lace on the
neckline and a deep lace ruffle around the shoulders. Someone
placed slits on either side of the cape for the hands to slip
through. The cape was closed with a blue ribbon. The
bonnet was made of the same woven off white fabric with lace in
front, a blue ribbon on top and a blue ribbon tie under the
chin. It is a wonderful outfit and a wonderful
doll.
The doll is strung with wire that goes from the legs through the
torso and head and hooks onto the back of the head. When
I first got the doll, the leg started to fall off, so I had to
undo the wig and feed the wire back through and hook to
over the back of the head again. There are a few rim
scratches where the wire hooks over the
top.
