Burt Reynolds stars as "W.W." -- a happy go lucky crook who makes his living robbing gas stations owned by an oil company he thinks cheated him. He drives a black and gold '55 Oldsmobile and gets chased by the cops on a regular basis.
The Dixie Dancekings are a country music band trying to get their first big break. W.W. involves them in a bank robbery and helps them start down the road to stardom at the Grand Ole Opry. Art Carney eventually catches up with him but everything turns out OK.
