REVIEW:
Two professional killers invade a small town and kill a gas station attendant, "the Swede," who's expecting them. Insurance investigator Reardon pursues the case against the orders of his boss, who considers it trivial. Weaving together threads of the Swede's life, Reardon uncovers a complex tale of treachery and crime, all linked with gorgeous, mysterious Kitty Collins.
A prime example of the short story format, Ernest Hemingway's The Killers (his original title was, revealingly, The Matadors) is confined to two locations (a restaurant and a boarding house) with a single-digit number of characters. With the broadest of strokes and a minimum of action, Hemingway addresses issues of personal ideology and morality.
It's easy to see why Hemingway's story inspires so many moviemakers. Upon a first reading the minimalism of The Killers is most apparent. So little happens in the moment of the tale that it feels skeletal, as if these are the barest of metaphorical bones. Yet on reflection a muscular subtext comes into view. The archetypal roles the characters inhabit, balanced out by the central ambiguous cog that is Ole Anderson, reveal a variety of conflicting human ideologies: Nick Adams (moral disgust); Sam the cook (socially influenced passivity); George (grizzled purveyor of harsh collective truths); Ole Anderson (acceptor of the inevitable). These are the kind of metaphoric meanings movies die for and Hemingway's short story, complete in its own right, provides enough of a bare bones plot from which a screenwriter can weave his own twisted tale.

We cannot guarantee the shipping speed, since all our items are mailed with Canada Post. As seller we cannot influence the speed of the mail. Customer service (also known as Client Service) is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. Its importance varies by product, industry and customer. As an example, an expert customer might require less pre-purchase service (i.e., advice) than a novice. In many cases, customer service is more important if the purchase relates to a “service” as opposed to a “product". Customer service may be provided by a person (e.g., sales and service representative), or by automated means called self-service. Examples of self service are Internet sites. Customer service is normally an integral part of a company’s customer value proposition. We do not offer CS in the traditional sense, nor as outlined here. Thus you must read and agree to all provisions set forth in this auction. We usually use drop ship services. Some drop shipping retailers may keep "show" items on display in stores, so that customers can inspect an item similar to those that they can purchase. Other retailers may provide only a catalogue or website. A customized packing slip may also be included by the wholesaler, indicating the retailer's company name, logo, and/or contact information. Drop shipping can occur when a small retailer who typically sells in small quantities to the general public receives a single large order for a product. Rather than route the shipment through the retail store, the retailer may arrange for the goods to be shipped directly to the customer. Many sellers on online auction sites, such as eBay, also drop ship. Often, a seller will list an item as new and ship the item directly from the wholesaler to the highest bidder. The seller profits from the difference between the winning bid and the wholesale price, minus any selling and merchant fees from the auction site. We may sell an item that even though it has been tested, may not work. Thus, all items are sold as is, no warranties. Item sanscas, non procès, non chose - générique. The term B movie originally referred to a motion picture made on a low or modest budget and intended for distribution as the less-publicized, bottom half of a double feature during the so-called Golden Age of Hollywood. Although the U.S. production of movies intended as second features largely ceased by the end of the 1950s, the term B movie continues to be used in a broader sense, referring to any low-budget, commercial motion picture meant neither as an arthouse film nor as unrated. In its post–Golden Age usage, there is ambiguity on both sides: on the one hand, many B movies display a high degree of craft and aesthetic ingenuity; on the other, the primary interest of many inexpensive exploitation films is prurient. In some cases, both are true.
In either usage, most B movies represent a particular genre—the Western was a Golden Age B movie staple, while low-budget science-fiction and horror films became more popular in the 1950s. Early B movies were often part of series in which the star repeatedly played the same character. Almost always shorter than the top-billed films they were paired with, many had running times of 70 minutes or less. The term connoted a general perception that B movies were inferior to the more handsomely budgeted headliners; individual B films were often ignored by critics. Latter-day B movies still sometimes inspire multiple sequels, but series are less common. As the average running time of top-of-the-line films increased, so did that of B pictures. In its current usage, the term has two primary and somewhat contradictory connotations: it may signal an opinion that a certain movie is (a) a genre film with minimal artistic ambitions or (b) a lively, energetic film uninhibited by the constraints imposed on more expensive projects and unburdened by the conventions of putatively "serious" independent film.
From their beginnings to the present day, B movies have provided opportunities both for those coming up in the profession and others whose careers are waning. Celebrated filmmakers such as Anthony Mann and Jonathan Demme learned their craft in B movies. B movies are where actors such as John Wayne and Jack Nicholson became established, and the Bs have also provided work for former A movie actors, such as Vincent Price and Karen Black. Some actors, such as Béla Lugosi and Pam Grier, worked in B movies for most of their careers.
Since our item is listed to be also sold in Canada, the following information deals with the fact that Canada has TWO official languages, namely French and English, thus making mandatory for us to list in both:
Official Bilingualism in Canada refers to laws and policies that make English and French the official languages in Canada, mandating that the federal government – and some other levels of government – provide certain services and communication to the public in both English and French. Official languages are addressed in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (sections 16 to 23), in the Official Languages Act, and Official Language Regulations. These laws establish the equality of status of English and French in federal institutions and guarantee the rights of English or French linguistic minorities in Canada.
The population of the country itself is by a large majority monolingual as only 17.65% of Canadians can speak both English and French.[2] The bilingual policies of the government are controversial to many, especially to those who support the Quebec sovereignty movement, and to many conservatives. At the provincial level, only New Brunswick is officially bilingual (under section 16 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms), though all provinces offer some services and education up to high school/secondaire, in both official languages. All three territories are officially bilingual. Several aboriginal languages are also official in Northwest Territories, and Inuktitut is an official language in Nunavut.
