This is a rare bond piece. This depicts a woman holding her
son near to her looking very unsettled. Apparently she has just
received notice that her husband is "missing in action." The title
is "MISSING IN ACTION..." Fourth War Loan poster. The illustrator
of this deeply colored piece was Xavier Gonzales. It was produced
by the U.S. Government Printing Office for the Navy Department. It
features the the words:
BUYING
A BOND
IS NO
SACRIFICE
And, at the bottom is states:
Missing in action...
Posters of this circa can very tremendously in
shape. This particular piece is just in amazing shape for it's age;
there is little wear and yellowing. The piece measures
approximately a 14 x 20 inches. The market value of this piece runs
approximately $350.
All items represented are the condition as
descrubed, stored in a climate controlled and a non-smoking
environment.
