Bellhop Bert
Harris has a little racketeering scheme in addition to his hotel
duties. He uses the cash generated by this business venture to hop
a ride to another town where he and his sweetheart and fellow con
Ann commit a few more scams. As they move farther west they find
it's their turn to be grifted. In Chicago, they meet Dapper Don
Barker, a counterfeiter busy passing out bogus twenty dollar bills.
Bert takes a liking to Don and buys $15,000 worth of counterfeit
cash for $5,000 of Ann's money. Bert pays Don, who insists he
stashed the $15,000 in a secret drawer. When Bert opens the
drawer,he finds it empty. Now the chase is on for Bert to find Don
and retrieve Ann's five grand.
