Item Description

This is the rare INTERPHIL '76 1976 PNC WITH SILVER MEDAL This was the first official medallic cover ever issued to commeratea major international stamp exposition, Interphil '76 in Philadelphia, Pa. It was the first international stamp exposition to be held in the U.S. in a decade. The cover combines the official Interphil '76 medal with the official U.S. Stamp, postmarked with the first day of the show cancellation. The design of the cover was created exclusively for this occasion and symbolizes the 200 years of U.S. Postal history.

The 39mm (about the size of a U.S. silver dollar) Sterling silver medal had a mintage of 7,907.

It comes in a presentation wallet.

Mintages were reduced during 1979 and 1981 when the Hunt brothers tried to corner the silver market, driving silver to $50.00 an ounce, and many Franklin Mint silver items were melted.

This is a must for any Silver Medal or Franklin Mint collector.
