The pearl is the only gem that emerges from nature perfect and complete. Unlike diamonds and gemstones, it cannot be improved through cutting and polishing.
It is nature's perfection in a luminous droplet.

A pearl is a gift of nature, a truly beautiful work of art.
The white South Sea pearl is at the height of its perfection when it is taken from its shell. It is as complete and perfect in its own way as an exquisite
work of art.

However, this most special gem is also unique, produced in the waters off the Australian coast by the rarest and largest oysters in the world - the Pinctada Maxima. This shell produces the most beautiful nacre, a creamy smooth lustrous material, which possesses a subdued opalescence. The size and thickness of the shell and the lustre of the nacre it produces results in the rarest and most sought after pearl in the world - the white South Sea pearl. A pearl of which dreams are made.

How to tell different quality pearls:

1.Lustre:

The luster is strong or not is considered the most determining factor when making an appraisal of and choosing pearl. Because luster hinges on the thickness〠fineness〠smoothness and transparency of nacreous layer.

2.Thickness of pearl layer:

The thickness of nacreous layer does exert a direct influence on the durability as well as artistic appearance of pearl.

3.Shape:

Actually, the shape of pearl falls into several major categories which include round〠ovalã€teardrop〠semi-baroque and baroque. But the regular round is supposed to be the most desirable shape. However, the designs ingeniously conceived may help the non-regular round pearl turn to be elegant and unique jewellery.

4.Blemish

The pearl with fine and smooth outer appearance is rated `excellent`. In fact, such kind of pearl is after all seldom seen. But as soon as the blemish is not noticeable visible in the naked eye and it does  not impair the artistic attraction, it should be deemed a passable one.

5.Colour and Overtone :

They both are deciding factors that have to be taken into account when giving an appraisal of pearl quality. A part from the colour of pearl itself, there are some floating on the body colour which are similar to that of the rainbow, this is called overtone which shows up on the pearl locally. The pearl with overtone looks more charming than the one without it .

6.Size:

The size matters much to the value setting. Under  the identical conditions, the larger the size, the higher the value.

7. Structure and colour coordination

Hand fabrication is regarded as a key link through which one can see if the manufacture has reached the professional lever required for setting skills. If the whole string ,as even colour as better except for the muti-colour pearl strings.
Finally, the above 7 factors have to be summed up when making an appraisal of a piece of   pearl. In addition, one should not take a part as a whole and can not negate its true value simply because of only’a fly in the ointment.Because it is very rare to match all 7 catagories except for the super quality and very rare  too

How to test real pearls

1. TOOTH TEST: Rub your pearls lightly against rhe edge of your front teeth. The real pearls ahould feel“gritty or sandy”. The fake ones feel smooth.

2. RUB TEST: Rub two pearls together. The real pearls should“gritty“. Fake pearls will slide over each other smoothly.

3. TOUCH TEST :Real pearls should feel“cool”to the touch other smoothly.

4. SCRPE TEST: Gently scrape with scissors a small suface of the pearl. The real pearl’s interior should be the same as the pearl powder. The fake ones will reveal a dull, plastic core.

5. Chinese Akoya Sea Water Pearls
They are produced on the coasts in Southern China, such as province Guangxi,Guangdong and Hainan, formed by Akoya oysters.Chinese Akoya has enjoyed a good reputation in China’s history back to 1000 years ago, owned by the royals and the riches. With its translucence and fullness, good quality, Chinese Akoya pearls are popular in the medium price range, this broadens an option for a large number of pearl lovers.

6. Chinese  Fresh Water Pearls:
All of  Chinese Fresh Water Pearl are from Southern and middle part of China, such   as    Province Zhe jiang , JiangSu , AnHui , JiangXi, HuBei and so on.  The oyster for  fresh water pearl is called Mussel. There are three  main natural colour white , pink and  peach. Light gray is quite rare and natural too.
The size is from 1.5mm to 15mm. The  natural shape  could be round , semi-round , semi-baroque and baroque. They are full of  nacre. Some help-shaped such as teeth, coin  , flower and square , we insert these man-made shaped  beed   to the mussel and they grow up layer by layer.  Thick nacre will be better and more expensive.
