This is a beautiful
set of earrings in 18K. yellow gold with top gem quality yellow
sapphires in a lovely hoop motif. Chaumet will only use the highest
quality gems. Each earring is 22mm tall by 6.5mm wide and 16mm
long.
List price: $2,450. Did You Know About Chaumet? Chaumet is on the the five great jewelry houses in the world. Chaumet's rise accompanied Napoleons glory. In 1780, Marie-Etenne Nitot, founder of the House of Chamuet, became the jeweler to the Emperor, Napoleon 1. Having become the Emperor's appointed jeweler, he designed the imperial sword, the tiaras and all the finery of the Empresses Josephine and Marie-Louise. First in war, Napoleon was also first in the ball-rooms. Among the main foreigner customers was Anatole Demidoff, the Russian prince married to Princess Mathilde, the niece of Emperor Napoleon 1. The House has attracted a clientele composed of painters, sculptors, writers and stars of the stage. The 1848 French Revolution led to a considerable slowdown in business activity of the House in Paris. Chaumet needed to seek the business of foreign customers and eventually moved to London. The House of Chaumet became jeweler to Queen Victoria. With the declaration of the Second Empire by Napoleon 111 in 1852, Chaumet returned to France. Paris regained its sparkling society and saw a return of its international reputation as a summit of luxury and fashion. The atmosphere was propitious for the creation of jewelry to be worn by day and by night and went perfectly with the popular opulent ball gowns. Joseph Chaumet was the uncontested master of the Belle for his creativity, which was truly exceptional. By creating jewelry that was both elegant and stately, he drew a royal and aristocratic clientele as well as numerous billionaires to his store located at 12 Place Vendome since 1907. Tiaras and aigrettes, which were social badges and fashion accessories, were a major part of the firms business. Jewels to be worn during the day were inspired by the Renaissance. The influence of the Japanese art aroused a great deal of enthusiasm and holds a special place in the history of the Chaumet style. Always ahead of the latest trends, Chaumet is contemporary and classic at the same time and steadfastly remains distinctly Chaumet The Chaumet Design Studio, located at 12 Place Vendome, bears witness to the savoir-faire transmitted from one workshop master to another without interruption since 1790. In the entrance to the salons, visitors are greeted by a full length portrait of Empress Marie-Louise de Habsburg-Lorraine, the second wife of Napoleon 1, dressed in her coronation gown. Symbolizing the beginnings of the firm, she wears jewels made for her by the founder of Chaumet, Marie-Etenne Nitot. This legendary site is the center from which Chaumets reputation radiates. It is also the prestigious address where international clientele come to absorb French taste and purchase jewels exemplifying the timeless creativity of the jeweler. It is the site of The Workshop, where, from generation to generation, the jewelers art and skills have been handed down since 1780. It is also here that the exceptional, 220 year heritage of Chaumet is preserved.
