SYNOPSIS:

Intensity is a 1997 Made For Television Mini-Series based on the novel by Dean Koontz. It originally aired in the U.S. on the Fox Network. It stars John C. McGinley, Molly Parker, and Tori Paul.

Intensity is about a 26-year-old woman named Chyna Shepherd, who had a very troubled upbringing. Just when things seemed to be going better for Chyna, she has a run-in with a serial killer named Edgler Vess, whom she witnesses murdering the family of a friend she is visiting. Chyna survives the attack and hides in the killer's vehicle while he drives in order to get revenge for the murders. She learns that Edgler is keeping a little girl captive, and she will stop at nothing to help save her.

While at the home of her friend, Chyna Shepherd witnesses the cruel death of various captives of serial killer Edgler Vess, along with memories of her disturbed mother and horrible childhood.

Based on a book by Dean Koontz, who also served as one of the Executive Producers, this Canadian film directed by Yves Simoneau (Mother's Boys) concerns a young psychology student named Chyna Shepherd. She's played by Molly Parker (who was so wonderful in the 1996 cult film Kissed) as a troubled woman with a frightening past, which is seen in disturbing flashbacks. Chyna attempts to exorcise her own demons by rescuing a 15-year-old girl named Ariel (Tori Paul) from the brilliant but completely insane serial killer Edgler Vess (John C. McGinley).  Edgler Vess has kidnapped Ariel and is holding her captive in his remote cabin, and only Chyna can save her.

Chyna Shepherd is a twenty-six-year-old psychology student who survived an extremely troubled past. While visiting Laura Templeton's house, a farm in the Napa Valley. A serial killer named Edgler Foreman Vess breaks into the house, killing Laura and her parents. Chyna survives, but she learns of Vess's captive: a girl, just as innocent as Chyna, trapped in Vess's home far from the Napa Valley. Chyna feels a great sense of responsibility for this girl, and she travels deeper into her nightmare.

This Two-Part Mini-Series is based on the Dean Koontz's novel, "Intensity." When Chyna Shepherd is coaxed into spending Thanksgiving with her friend Laura's family, she can't stop thinking about her own horrific childhood. Relaxing for the first time into the normality of a loving family holiday, her happiness is shattered by a blood-curdling scream. In the darkness of night, someone has broken into the house to slaughter Laura's family one by one. Hidden under a bed, Chyna goes undetected, but when the intruder takes Laura's limp body as a trophy, Chyna risks her own life and follows him. Soon she comes face-to-face with Edgler Vess, the brilliant psychopath behind the crimes. Along the way, Chyna seeks help from a stranger, Miriam Braynard, as she continues her journey into the killer's dark world.
