Jason (William Holden) is a World War II veteran going to college on the GI Bill in the hope of bettering himself. He has recently married his sweetheart, Peggy (Jeanne Crain), who has learned that they're having a baby. However, money is tight for the young couple, and inexpensive housing is at a premium in the post-war boom times. Peggy runs into Professor Barns (Gwenn) and he has a hugh house with an empty attic.

Professor Henry Barnes decides he's lived long enough and contemplates suicide. His attitude is changed by Peggy Taylor, a chipper young mother-to-be who charms him into renting out his attic as an apartment for her and her husband Jason who is struggling to finish college. Never released commercially in any format, A wonderful old movie and along with "Margie" and "Take Care Of My Little Girl" one of Jeanne Crain's best drama/comedy films.
