An hour-long retrospective of Christopher Lee's most famous roles, hosted by Lee and interspersed with clips from his films. In addition to DRACULA and his other famous horror roles for studios like Hammer Films, Lee also discusses The Three Musketeers, the various FU MANCHU films, The Man With the Golden Gun, and The Wicker Man, which Lee considers his best role and the best film he has been involved with.
Born on May 27, 1922 in Belgravia, London as Christopher Frank Carandini, Lee is a legendary and prolific English actor known for his versatility, his professional longevity, and his distinctive basso delivery. Lee is best known for his portrayals of villains and became famous playing Count Dracula and other monsters in a string of horror films for Hammer. At six feet five inches, he is listed in The Guinness Book of World Records for the world's tallest leading actor--a record he shares with Vince Vaughn--just beating Stephen Fry (Wilde) by 1/2 an inch.
Saturday Night Live (a.k.a. SNL) is a weekly late-night 90-minute American comedy/variety show based in New York City which has been broadcast by NBC nearly every Saturday night since its debut. It is one of the longest-running network entertainment programs in American television history. Each week, the show's cast is joined by a guest host and a musical act. Horror fans were given a treat when British actor Christopher Lee hosted the Halloween episode with musical guests Meatloaf. The episode remains one of the highest-rated in the history of SNL. Comedy sketches included Lee announcing several "new" horror films like "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Rogers", Lee as the Grim Reaper trying to explain to a little girl why her dog had to die, and Lee finds himself on the other side of a wooden stake for a change as a vampire hunter.
